Medicare Basics: Part A

Hospital Insurance - managed by the government to help cover

  • Inpatient hospital care

  • Skilled nursing facility care

  • Hospice

  • Some home health care

  • $0 monthly premium for most people

With Part A of Medicare a beneficiary can go to any provider that accepts Medicare. There is a 60 day $1,408 deductible for hospitalizations. Meaning, if you go into the hospital in January you pay the first $1,408 before Medicare kicks in. If you go into the hospital again in March you would pay that $1,408 deductible again. If you go in again 60 days after that, you would pay it again as there is no out-of-pocket maximum.

Part A of Medicare covers the first 20 days in a skilled nursing facility after which you pay $161 a day up until day 100. After day 101 you pay all costs. Again, there is no out-of-pocket maximum.

Samuel has directed me to the best and complete insurance there is to offer me. I pay no out of pocket expenses for doctor's visits and minimum prescription fees. I highly recommend Samuel. In addition I haven't met Samuel in person. All our correspondence has been through email and phone. I am a very satisfied customer having found Samuel available when needed and very helpful.
