Medicare Basics

MEDICARE IS FOR PEOPLE AGE 65 AND OLDER, FOR PEOPLE UNDER AGE 65 WITH CERTAIN DISABILITIES, AND FOR ANYONE WITH END-STAGE RENAL DISEASE OR ALS.

Medicare has four parts:

  • A and B - managed by the federal government, referred to as Original Medicare

  • C and D - offered by private health insurance companies with an approved Medicare contract
